Joey (the dog) got his name from Muddy’s family’s friend Joey Sudo. Joey Sudo was diagnosed at age 7 with a rare form of pediatric brain cancer. Joey fought AT/RT cancer for over five years. He was actively involved in raising money and awareness for Johns Hopkins Pediatric Cancer Research. He was an honorary child for the St. Baldrick's cancer research fundraising events at O'Laughlins and Fado's. More than $280,000 has been donated to cancer research as a result of Joey Sudo serving as a rallying point for local fundraising efforts. When Joey Sudo learned that Muddy had a handsome boy puppy- he asked if we would name the pup “Joey Sudo”. Joey (the dog) was named in honor of the forever brave Joey Sudo.
